Happy Valentines Day!!!

Good morning and Happy Valentine's day!!!I am in a very good mood today :o) I went to the WLS support group meeting last night and met Robyn..... She is SO SWEET!!!!! I am extremely glad that I went.
There were about 20 people in attendance mostly having had gastric bypass, but there were around 6 bandsters and soon to be bandsters. We got together after the main part of the meeting. Last night's topic was protein sources.
Robyn let me pet her port :o) It was pretty cool. She really is an expert bandster and very open about her experiences. I also met 3 ladies that had been banded in the last 1-5 months. My biggest concern was recovery time. These ladies thought I was off my rocker to think that I could go back to work in 3-4 days. I am starting to think that they may be right. I really appreciate that every one was willing to answer all of my questions.... even the fart ones.

  1. Lucky you, getting to meet Robyn~ I'm jealous! Yes- I agree ~ going back to work after 3-4 days may be a bit ambitious...I was pretty weak and sore for about 5 day but managed to do some part time stuff after day 5. I was back to my self around 7-8 days out. Just don't rush it ~ make healing your priority.

  2. I really hope you will be able to take off two weeks. If you can't just plan to take it real slow.
You have the most beautiful smile.

  3. Hi Reggie,

How cool getting to go along to the support groups before having surgery and getting to meet people at different stages of post-op.

I am a primary school teacher and had my surgery to coincide with the half term week break so I had 7 days before I went back to school. I could not have gone back sooner and that first week back, I left everyday by 4. I had a LOT of problems with referred wind pain in my shoulder. I would recommend finding a good trapped wind remedy before hand along with some tasty liquid paracetamol. Hope this helps.

  4. I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet! Not fun at all, my surgery is on 24th, so 9 more days and I will be banded!! Best of luck to you, let us know when your surgery date is

  5. I think taking a week off would be good, but if you have more time to take off that would always be nice.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  7. Thank you Ladies. I think that taking off at least a week would be the smart thing to do. I could always go back early if I am up to it (yeah right.) Now, If they would just hurry up and schedule my surgery...

  9. Yep - a week. I live along, and thank GOD. My dad was here for 2 days (mostly to wake me up for pain meds and make sure I was ok), but days 3-7 were a giant fartfest. Why? Well, if you don't fart out the gas, it build up and is painful. I did many laps around my kitchen counter (I live in Arizona and it was July, so not outside).

  10. Welcome to deciding to get banded. I was banded 12/28 I had two days of pain that wasn't that bad. I stayed home for a full week because I'm a teacher and was on Winter break. I've lost 40lbs since December and am well on my way to getting my Sexy back! Only thing I hate is losing my booty LOL wanted to keep that but I guess it will even out with losing everyplace else. Best decision I've ever made!
